Course Objective

The course aims to prepare officers for the duties of ensuring safety on board. The course is structured in accordance with the International Safety Management Code of the ISM Code.

Objective of the course

At the end of the course, students must be prepared and qualified in full compliance with the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (IMO Resolution A – 741 (eighteen)).

Course content

After familiarization with the general provisions and requirements of the code, proceed to the study of the functional requirements for the ship’s security system. Trainees are trained in drawing up plans for conducting operations on ships and monitoring crew actions in response to alarms. A separate topic is the safety of oil tankers and environmental protection.

Entry Requirements for Trainees

Trainees undergoing training in the “Ship Security Officer” course must meet the following requirements:

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • meet the health requirements;
  • have a qualification obtained in a maritime educational institution and a corresponding length of service as a command staff.
