Ordinary Seaman Course

Training program “Ordinary Seaman”:                                                                                                                     

1. General professional training.
2. Professional-theoretical training includes:

• Marine practice;
• basis of the ship navigation;
• Basis of electric engineering and electric equipment of ships;
• Ship’s architecture;
• Personal survival techniques, firefighting, medical first aid, personal safety and social responsibilities;
• International maritime instruments;
• Bases of ecology;
• English (Professional vocabulary);
• Occupational safety and health;
• Professional and practical training.

Technical base:

Cabinets:

• Ship’s architecture;
• marine practice and bases of navigation;
• Basis of electric engineering and electric equipment of ships;
• Use of life-saving appliances;
• Firefighting;
• First aid;
• Occupational safety and health.

Workshops:                

• Rigging shop.

Simulator-assisted practical training:

• Use of life-saving appliances;
• Firefighting;
• integrated system imitating navigational bridge.

Groups of less than 25 students. The study can be organized in the morning and in the afternoon.

The course lasts 22 weeks including 2 months of sailing practice.

Documents issued:

• Certificate of qualified worker in the profession of « sailor» with assignment of qualifications “Ordinary Seaman”;
• Certificate of the course “Safety Familiarization, Basic Training and Instructions for All Seafarers (STCW-78, VI/1)»;
• Sailing enumeration census – 60 days.

State authorities which have approved the training of qualified workers according to the State Standard of study of the SSTVE 8340.01.61.00-2014:

• Ministry of education and science, youth and sports of Ukraine;
• Ministry of labour and social policy of Ukraine;
• Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine;
• Inspection on training and certification of seafarers of Ukraine.

Demands to the students of the course “Ordinary Seaman”:

• Full secondary education;
• Age over 18;
• Passport of the citizen of Ukraine;
• Residence permit;
• Foreign passport;
• Medical certificate 086;
• 3 photos 3×4, matte, no corner.
