Able Seaman course

Program of the course “Able Seaman”:                                                                                                             

1. General professional training.
2. Professional-theoretical training includes:

• Marine practice;
• Navigation watch at auxiliary level;
• Ships Carrying Dangerous and Hazardous Substances and stevedorage;
• Electric equipment of ships and its maintenance;
• English (professional vocabulary);
• Occupational safety and health;
• Personal safety and social responsibilities;
• Accident prevention;
• Professional and practical training.

Technical base:

Cabinets:              

• Marine practice and bases of navigation;
• Ship’s architecture;
• Occupational safety and health;
• Life-saving appliances;
• Firefighting;
• First aid;
• English language and information technology.

Rigging shop                 

Simulator-assisted practical training: 

• Use of life-saving appliances;
• Firefighting;
• integrated system imitating navigational bridge.

Groups of less than 25 students. The study can be organized in the morning and in the afternoon.
The course lasts 12 weeks including 6 weeks of sailing practice.

Documents issued:

• Students who have successfully completed the full course of education get the State certificates with obligatory entering details into the State Register.
• The Certificate of a qualified professional with qualification “Seamen ” with qualification assignment “Able Seaman”.

State authorities which have approved the training of qualified workers according to the State Standard of study of the SSTVE 8340.01.61.00-2014:

• Ministry of education and science, youth and sports of Ukraine;
• Ministry of labour and social policy of Ukraine;
• Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine;
• Inspection on training and certification of seafarers of Ukraine.

Demands to the students entering the course of “Able Seaman”:

• Education – not less than complete secondary one;
• Passport of the citizen of Ukraine;
• Residence permit;
• Work experience aboard ships as an able-bodied sailor not less than 12 months;
• Foreign Passport or seaman’s passport;
• Medical certificate 086;
• 3 photos 3×4, matte, no corner.
